‘Blow Me a Kiss’ catalogs iconic lips

A new coffee table book called ‘Blow Me a Kiss’ features some of the most culturally iconic lips, from Mick Jagger’s to Marlene Dietrich’s. Packed with 80 color and black-and-white photos, the work by style writer Alice Harris has received rave reviews from readers. Harris’ publisher, Powerhouse Books, describes the book as a unique collection of artistic work.

“An icon of untold pleasures, [lips] are synonymous with style, sex, and even scandal,” Powerhouse writes on its website. “Whether pursed or provocatively parted, lips have undeniable visual power, while lipstick remains a timeless symbol of glamour and sensuality. Blow Me a Kiss offers a dazzling look at our fascination with lips and the myriad ways they’ve been depicted in paintings, film, and photography.”

Here are a look at some of our favorite iconic lips recently named by Elle Magazine:

  • Angelina Jolie: Thousands of women envy Jolie’s sexy, bee-stung pout. Whether she plays them down in a nude gloss or makes them pop in a bright red lipstick, these lips were made for talking.
  • Lauren Hutton: Hutton’s natural, youthful-looking lips perfectly complement her earthy beauty, gap-tooth smile and all-American good looks.
  • Marilyn Monroe: Monroe may have famously said that no one else looked like her without clothes on, but no one’s lips looked quite like hers either. Full and perfectly shaped they were part of her secret to success.
  • Scarlett Johansson: Another screen siren with ample lips, Scarlett Johansson uses them to amplify her sex appeal.
