Butt augmentation on the rise among men, says NYT

Posted on July 26, 2013 by

When you think of curvaceous backsides, who do you picture? Sultry celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Kim Kardashian probably spring to mind, but are there any men in the public eye you can name with a particularly noteworthy derriere?

It’s true that few famous men are quite so renowned for this feature, but that doesn’t mean that males across the country don’t get self-conscious about their rear-ends. The New York Times recently reported on an uptick in demand for butt augmentation procedures among men.

“With the trend going toward slimmer pants, you’re able to see the assets underneath a lot better,” said Matthew Butlein, president of the online store Freshpair, which sells buttocks-boosting underwear, among other offerings.

While there are plenty of exercises you can do that focus on your posterior, there is only so much that can be accomplished. Chances are, if a lackluster behind is a part of your genetic makeup, no amount of squats will result in the volume you crave. But consulting a Miami plastic surgeon just might.

According to statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, male clientele accounted for just over 6 percent of the butt augmentation procedures performed in 2012, and given the renewed emphasis on well-tailored pants and skinny jeans, that figure could likely continue to rise.

If you’ve always felt self-conscious about your backside, now is the time to do something about it.
