Buttocks lift procedure sees boom in popularity

According to data recently released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the popularity of buttocks lift procedures has exploded over the last decade. The number of buttocks lift operations nationwide grew 80 percent between 2000 and 2013, the ASPS reports, making it the fastest growing cosmetic surgical procedure in that time period. Some doctors attribute the growing trend to the popularity of such curvaceous stars as Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Beyonce.

Movie star Kate Hudson recently commented on popular plastic surgical options for giving one's rear a lift.

"If someone wants to go get butt implants, then sure, go get butt implants," she told InStyle, saying we should never judge each other's personal decisions.

Potential patients should consider cosmetic surgery if they want a smoother, higher or better shaped bottom. The procedure commonly known as the "Brazilian Butt Lift" uses fat from a patient's own body to increase volume and improve shape. Using one's own fat rather than implants to enhance the buttocks can look more natural and proves safer with fewer risks of complications that can occur when introducing a foreign substance into the body. As an added bonus, the fat used in the butt is often removed from a patient's abdomen, resulting in a thinner waistline as well as a curvier behind.

The second fastest-growing procedure over the 13-year period was the tummy tuck. Seventy-nine percent more patients had abdominoplasty operations in 2013 than in 2000.
