Middle-aged women have lower body confidence than teenagers

Conventional wisdom dictates that as we grow older we get more comfortable in our own skin, but a recent study suggests otherwise. The British government surveyed more than 3,000 women of all ages, and found that those between 35 and 49 worry the most about their bodies, with almost half unhappy with their appearance. Here are the percentages of age groups dissatisfied with their looks:

  • 18 to 34 years old: 37 percent
  • 35 to 49 years old: 43 percent
  • 50 to 64 years old: 29 percent
  • 65 years old and older: 36 percent

Women and Equalities Minister Jo Swinson tells British newspaper, The Sunday Times, that the growing number of famous actresses and singers having plastic surgery as they get older has established an ideal that is hard to compete with when aging naturally. While Swinson is critical of efforts to combat signs of the passage of time, we believe that life is simply too short to feel bad about yourself!

If you are a woman at any age who is unhappy about your appearance, consider investing in surgical and/or non-surgical procedures to enhance your face and body so that you can finally look and feel your best. Christopher Craft, M.D., one of the best plastic surgeons in Miami, has helped countless women maximize their own natural beauty, rolling back the clock and correcting “problem” areas so that they can feel more confident than they ever have before.

Whether you are insecure about a facial feature like your nose or a body part like stubbornly flabby thighs, Dr. Craft can help. If you are interested in exploring your options for improving your confidence, contact Christopher Craft Cosmetic Surgery to schedule an initial consultation.
