Minimally invasive procedures changing the face of plastic surgery

Some people seeking cosmetic surgery in Miami want the whole package – liposuction coupled with a mommy makeover may be just what is needed for a patient to achieve her aesthetic goals. For others, however, who just want a bit of targeted sculpting and a nip and tuck here or there, major surgery may be too much. To help these patients get the look that they want without the surgery or the recovery time that comes with it, many plastic surgeons are offering minimally invasive alternatives to common procedures.

In an interview with U-T San Diego, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Rey said that while he still regularly performs breast enlargement and butt augmentation surgeries, the focus of his practice has shifted in recent years. Instead of getting multiple invasive cosmetic procedures, Rey said that his patients are becoming more conservative in their choices and picking procedures that they feel will do the best job in boosting their self esteem.

Rey also told the source that many more of his patients have expressed interest in minimally invasive liposuction options like SlimLipo.

Dr. Robert Singer, a La Jolla, California, plastic surgeon and former president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, told the source that patients need to have realistic expectations about the results of a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure. He noted that several sessions with a board certified plastic surgeon may be necessary to achieve desired results.
