Reality show highlights plastic surgery stigma

If you are considering Miami plastic surgery, you may have loved ones who have expressed their disapproval, or told you that you simply don’t need to get work done. Though cosmetic enhancements like breast implants and tummy tucks have become much more widespread in recent years, this response is still common. For the most part, these views are expressed out of love and even concern, since plastic surgery – like any operation – is not without its risks. However, undergoing a Mommy Makeover, or any other procedure, is not about how others see you. It is about how you see yourself.

That is exactly the point that Jacqueline Laurita, one of the stars of “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” made on a recent episode of the show. The mother of two was on vacation in California and opened up to a friend about her desire to undergo a tummy tuck and neck lift to get rid of the sagging skin that made her feel self-conscious in a bathing suit.

“[My husband] doesn’t think I need it but he’s like, if that’s what you want to do … he’s supportive. I want to do this for myself. I’m getting rid of all the baggage in my life,” she said on the show.

Though Laurita’s parents and her friend Ashley made it clear that they were opposed to the reality star’s decision, she reiterated that the choice was for her.

It’s understandable for you and your loved ones to have concerns about a given procedure. That is exactly why it’s important to turn to a board-certified plastic surgeon who will guide you through this process and answer any questions you may have.
