3 tips and tricks for protecting your skin from UV rays

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, nine in 10 non-melanoma skin cancers are linked to sun exposure, and nearly seven in 10 melanoma cases are associated with UV radiation from the sun. Not only that, soaking up harmful UVA and UVB rays can cause your skin to look prematurely aged, wrinkled and spotty. However, we know that in Miami it can be difficult to limit the time spent in direct sunlight. After all, we are lucky to live in one of the sunniest places on earth! Here are some easy tips and tricks for protecting your skin even while enjoying plenty of time at the beach or pool.

  • Carry sunglasses: Sunglasses with full UV protection can help guard your sight and protect the delicate skin around your eyes from getting damaged by the sun. Carry sunglasses with you in your bag, pocket or car so that you always have a pair handy.
  • Keep a hat in your car: If you’re going to be outside, even if you’re just running errands, you should try to wear a wide-brimmed hat. Try keeping a stylish model stored in your car so that you always have the option of throwing it on. You won’t wear it if you don’t have it with you!
  • Sneak in sunscreen: Sneak sunscreen into your daily routine by using lotions and make-up products loaded with SPF protection.
