Julia Roberts addressing plastic surgery in new interview

Posted on October 28, 2014 by

Julia Roberts recently gave an interview to British publication You Magazine, which addressed the recent shock over the extreme measures taken by fellow actress Renée Zellweger. Early last week Zellweger stepped out onto the red carpet for the first time in months, sporting a new look that some saw as drastic, particularly around her famous eyes. While the Oscar winner released a statement attributing her new face to living well, many in the public remained unconvinced.

In the wake of this public episode, Roberts spoke up about the scrutiny that actresses over a certain age face from both fans and the media, as well as internalized pressure to remain looking youthful for as long as possible. The 47-year-old acknowledged that she has never gone under the knife herself, she does understand why many feel it is a necessary step to take for their careers.

“By Hollywood standards, I guess I’ve already taken a big risk in not having had a face-lift,” Roberts told the British magazine. “But I’ve told Lancome that I want to be an aging model — so they have to keep me for at least five more years until I’m over 50.”

Roberts went on to add that one of the biggest ways she tries to maintain her skin’s health is by cutting down on the stresses and anxieties that can take over a person’s life. Decluttering her home and exercising regularly are just two of the ways that Roberts tries to maintain an airy and happy existence that she thinks translates well to how she appears.
