Worried about how breastfeeding will affect your implants? Fear not!

To breastfeed or not to breastfeed – that is the question that millions of new mothers face. With so much conflicting information about the pros and cons of this approach for you baby’s health and for your body, let alone the difficulty that so many women experience when they first try to feed their newborns, it’s easy to see why you may have reservations.

If you have breast implants, you may also be concerned about how breastfeeding will affect your cosmetically enhanced assets, but a new study from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) bears good news. According to an ASPS press release, breastfeeding in and of itself does not necessarily contribute to unsightly sagging for women with breast implants or those without.

“Changes in breast measurements and the degree of sagging were not significantly different in breast augmentation patients who breastfed and those who did not. Overall, breast measurements and the severity of sagging did increase in patients, but were attributed to changes that occurred due to pregnancy only,” the source states.

So, if concerns about your breast implants played a factor in this intensely personal decision, fear not. Furthermore, if you are considering breast augmentation in Miami and want to learn more about how future life events like pregnancy and aging will affect them, your best resource is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Christopher Craft has years of experience helping people in this sun-soaked city love the way they look, whether through a breast augmentation, Mommy Makeover, eyelid surgery or more.
